So, I’m very proud of myself today. I got what we needed and saved a lot of money.
I know there are some people out there that can feed their family on $40/week. For me, I’d rather spend a little more and try to make sure we are eating a healthy variety of fresh food. We buy a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as some organic products. I know these elevate the cost, but these are things we are willing to spend money on. I know we could spend very little and eat pasta every night, but I’d rather not. My goal is to find the cheapest way to buy our normal every day items.
I feel I did a good job today, and I had my 2 small kids with me. I’m exhausted.
At Newflower I got groceries for the week and more. I spent $63.82 for all of this, including 2 pairs of sunglasses (one I got for free).
At CVS, I spent $49.93 (saved $38.94 according to CVS) for all of these items which will last us a while.
What about you? Did you go shopping today? How did it go? Please share your great finds and deals.

One thing I have found is that for some things, the supermarket isn't always cheapest. I buy most of our dried beans and lentils at a little Indian store and it's about half the price. We aren't vegetarians but I am trying to cook vegetarian at least twice a week for healthier food and to expose the kids to foods from other cultures.
What a great idea. I'll have to try that.
