Summer is almost here. Many kids are already out of school.
Here are some free and cheap things to do with the kids. I will update this frequently, so please bookmark this post and come back frequently.

AMC $1 Movies

Regal Free Summer Movies $1 Movies
Selected G & PG movies start at 10AM each Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6/7 – 8/3.
Cinemark 50 cent Summer Movies
Cinemark is also offering discounted movies for the kids this summer from June 7th through August 10th. A Different Movie Every Weekday morning. All 10 movies can be purchased in advance for $5.00, or can be purchased separately at the box office for $1.00 per show. Click here for the schedule and to find a theater near you.
Netflix – Free Online Movies
No late fees. No due dates. We have been using Netflix for a while and I love it. It’s so convenient and easy to manage. All plans have unlimited online movies. In addition to movies they mail to you, they also have a huge selection of online movies you can watch. There is no limit on how many of the free online movies you watch. It’s great! Plans start at only $4.99/month. You can usually get a free 2 week or month subscription if you are a first time subscriber.
Marcus Theatres Kids Rule- Starting June 21, moves show every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for $2.
BOOKS
Barnes and Noble Reading Program = Free Books
Barnes & Noble has a summer reading program for kids in grades 1 through 6. If they read 8 books, they can get a free book.
Borders and Waldenbooks are offering summer reading deals, too, though not free. During the Kids Reading Challenge, if kids ages 12 & under read 10 books and fill out a form, they can redeem it to get one free book.
Free HEB T-shirt
If your kids reads 10 books, they get a free HEB shirt. Go to HEB Buddy and then Clubs and Contests for for more details. Or get the HEB Summer Reading PDF form here.
Half Price Books Summer Reading Program
Read 600 minutes or more over the summer and get a $5 Back-to-School Bucks summer reading reward! The Summer Reading Program goes from June 5 – August 2. Your child has to be 14 or under to participate in this program. Go here for more details and to find a Half Price Books location near you.
Chuck E. Cheese Summer Reading = free tokens

Bass Pro Shops Free Summer Camp for Kids
June 4th to July 10 Bass Pro Shops offers a free crafts, workshops, and activities for the family! For more info click here. I have my eye on the Saturdays S’mores making workshop.
Home Depot Free How-to Clinics
These workshops for kids are available on the first Saturday of every month between 9 am and 12 noon at all Home Depots. Go here to find out about upcoming workshops.
Lowe’s Build and Grow Clinics
Like Home Depot, Lowe’s also offers workshops for kids. Kids can make a mini putting green for dad or a pirate ship! To sign up for the free clinics go here.
Free Apple Camp and Workshops
Free Apple Camp for kids 8-12 – Fun, free summer workshops where kids can learn how to make great stuff on a Mac. More info can be found here. And, Youth Workshops is for kids (ages 6 to 13) to hone their Mac skills and use iLife and iWork applications to complete exciting projects.
Lakeshore Learning
Free crafts for kids over the summer. For crafts without the in-home mess, take advantage of one of these free craft days at Lakeshore Learning stores. The free event takes place most Saturdays from 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

Bank of America Customers get free museum admission

SPORTS and OUTDOORS
Buy One Get One Free Baseball Tickets
On Tuesdays, between May 12 and Sept. 1 bring a Kraft Singles package wrapper for a “buy one ticket, get one free” deal. Use the coupon here to save $1 on 2 packages of Kraft Singles. Valid at participating Minor League Baseball teams.

No Fee National Park Weekends
Over 100 National parks that usually charge admission fees are providing three fee-free weekends this summer. Here are the dates June 20-21, July 18-19, and August 15-16. Click here for a list by state.
Bass Pro Shops Free Family Activities
Bass Pro Shops are offering up FREE family activities Tues, Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 6 p.m., June 4 – July 10! They will have free crafts, free s’mores, a free shooting range, free casting pond and more! Go here to read all about it!
Major League Baseball Free Youth Clinics
The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association offers free baseball clinics for kids. Registration is limited to the first 250 children that sign up. The age range varies from site to site, but in general the program is for boys and girls ages 6-15. Go here for a list of the remaining clinics thanks to Cities on the Cheap.
REI Family Adventure Program
With REI’s Passport for Adventure program, kids ages 5-12 learn about taking family-friendly hikes or bike rides and exploring the world around them.
